Announcement
Labyrinthum will remain open. The mod team has handed over the keys, and there will be an announcement shortly. This post will remain for transparency.
Thank you for your patience.
Thank you for your patience.
Hey, everybody. Yon here again.
I have a painful announcement, and I’m going to start us off with that because it will pertain to the most people: Effective immediately, we’re closing Labyrinthum. No further applications will be processed, and we thank those players who had applied into the game. I’m sorry you didn’t get the chance to play.
With that out of the way, I want to offer an apology. Recently, I engaged with some criticism on the FAQ. If you weren’t aware of this thread, you are now; I’m not proud of it. I handled it very poorly. What I said was true; My actions were never motivated by favoritism and I wasn’t trying to blindside anybody. I only told the player about the upcoming network disruption because it was relevant to her long-term ongoing player plot, and I expressed this in a plurk rather than a private message specifically because it wasn’t meant to be a secret.
But… I communicated next to none of that to the concerned players. I made no attempt to explain or reach an understanding with them. I reacted dismissively and combatively, because I knew they’d misread my intentions, and I was too indignant to consider that they didn't. I gave them no reason whatsoever to trust in my honesty.
It was not, to say the least, a persuasive response from me.
I originally intended to apologize just for that. I was busy over the past week for personal reasons, and during that week, more issues have come to light, issues I hadn’t even been aware of. I won’t make excuses or explanations here; the short version is that there was a lot of hostility toward the mods (even some former mods) due to recent setting changes and rules clarifications. I hadn’t realized the extent of the hostility until today.
It’s become obvious that there’s a rift between the players and the mods that I hadn’t even seen, and I’m sincerely sorry for that as well. It’s clear that this mod team isn’t able to deliver the game that the players deserve, and our attempts to course-correct have only made things worse in the eyes of players.
I once told another mod team who refused to accept fault for the state of their game that they should have put down the shovel and stopped digging themselves deeper. We do not want to drag Labyrinthum to that same depth, and so we’re closing the game.
We thank you for giving us a chance, we thank Ashu and Caps for creating the game and leaving it in our hands, and we're sorry we couldn't see it through correctly.

As a player... The decision I can't personally take as anything but kind of semi-insulting in a way that I don't think you, or anyone on the mod team intended is the sudden closing without looking for people to take over. There are people here with the time, the effort and knowledge that could have or at least could've tried. I am not one of those people aside if you need lists or spreadsheets that are overcomplicated and unnecessarily full of statistics.
I think maybe take some time to dwell on it, and read the supportive messages. If the decision is to hardline the game still, then thank you for the opportunity to actually be here, good to be in a game with all of you when we were able to play together.

So many people here will be unable to continue CR either because characters are already applied elsewhere or because games are completely full. No one wants this outcome. This is completely faulting the players when they themselves have done nothing. So please consider reaching out to someone that you feel is trusted enough to pass the game over to.

If you are resolved on this course of action, there should be a sense of closure. Like perhaps a write-up on how everyone returns to their world; the abruptness of it and the fact that the game closed after a year and three quarters, there should be something for the players who have been here for a long time.

Please don't punish all of us who love playing here, who have amazing cr and are able to play with so many talented rpers because of something we were not part of.
I ask you to listen to the people asking to help. At the very least, please keep it open as a sandbox until you can sort out new mods. I'm so sad that all my thread and cr building has just been pulled out from under me, it feels so sudden and I really hope you reconsider.
Please.

I’m one of the older players, and I haven’t been involved in any of the drama going around. I would be more than happy to handle screening mod applications and transfer things if you’d be willing to hand off the game. That way you guys can step back and do what you need, and we still get to enjoy the game we all love.

I have already contacted the mod team. I care a lot about Labyrinthum, the setting and players, as well as the stories people are working on. I would really appreciate the chance.

On plurk and in this thread I see a lot of people who love the game and want to take it off your hands. Do yourself a favor and listen to your players regarding all of this.
