OOC INTRO + CR MEME: DECEMBER
• OOC INTRO + CR MEME •For new players, welcome to the game! And for current players, thanks for sticking around! This post will act as an ooc intro for new players, a CR meme for everyone, and a place to make some plans for our next event which will go live on December 12th.
Below you will also see the CR meme form + the Special Event in all of its entirety plus something else extra special... You may use this to plot out the rest of your month!

You could be going through a door into your house, or going through a door into an establishment... it doesn't matter, as long as you are going through a door. On the other side, every single character will find that they are in a place they never have been to before-- a place that is otherwise forbidden. It starts off as a confusing maze, and here is where characters will find themselves brushing shoulders with one another. Staircases will lead up the walls, down the walls, all over-- even if someone becomes upside down, they will not fall. Something about this building is very magical. Find your companions and discover a way out!
Some people take a long time to get out of this maze room, but other people will find the exit right away. The exit is never the same, but it will lead to the same ending, a long, stretching hallway lit by torches. Characters will realize they are in a castle, but not just any castle, they are in Vaeros' Castle. Through the door at the end of the hallway, they will see they are in a massive dining hall with a long, stretched table, all just for them. No matter how many people are here, there's plenty of room for everyone! On the table, characters will find all of their favorite foods, even those that are only found in their world. For example, if someone likes modern food like instant ramen, it'll be there! Old, rare food from medieval times? Also there! Dreamers will get their fill and while they are eating, they will feel a strange happiness fall over them. They will feel comfortable. Happy. Even the saddest characters, they will be caught smiling. It's a wonderful time to fellowship with one another and maybe even meet Dreamers you never have before.

Once Dreamers are full, they will see under their plate an invitation with their name on it written in gold lettering. Opening the envelope, they will see this writing:
Cheers and Merry New Year, Another successful year we honor the Moon for bringing life onto Visium, A celebration waits for you next door.Next door, the large double doors on the opposite end of the giant dining room, a masquerade party is going on over there. While it seems the ballroom is full of people, they are but mirages and not actually there. Dreamers will NOT be able to tell the difference. They will talk and seem solid as the townsfolk down past the labyrinth in Somnius.
Once Dreamers step into the ballroom to dance, they will magically be wearing their attire and mask. The mask and outfit can be anything, but Dreamers will realize that some of the masks give Dreamers personality & physical traits of what they are wearing. For example, is that a fox mask? You may start feeling more sly and sprout a long furry tail! This effect will end after the masquerade or last until January 1st. It is up to the player.
The evening will continue with dancing and laughing... but no signs of Vaeros, the host seem to be found.

Sprinkled throughout the ballroom among pillars and arched doorways that only really seem to lead to corridors that head back to the ballroom itself, are little sprigs of mistletoe. Not every place these pesky plants are located are conventional, their locations are sometimes quite sneaky instead. Pairs caught within a 2-meter radius will find that they're trapped in an invisible bubble unable to leave the area until they've exchanged a kiss with the person they're trapped with. The kind of kiss is up to player's wishes, but are expected to be age-appropriate. Luckily with the crowd and everything else going on, perhaps these kisses could be kept private. But nothing is guaranteed...
From the ballroom where crowds of people both real and mirage mingle and dance the night away, several rounded doorways lead out to a stone balcony that overlooks the night beyond Vaeros' castle. Gentle candlelight dances from magical sources to give the balcony warm, dim lighting, the mood delightfully intimate. There's a sweet scent in the air, a comfortable warm feeling surrounding the balcony that seems large enough for pairs to maintain privacy. Even a set of stairs winds slowly down to leafy gardens, lit and warmed similarly. The din of the party back inside stays quiet and distant, keeping the atmosphere inviting.
Those who venture out onto the balcony or even further into the gardens with its stone benches and private alcoves will feel compelled to confess something to their companion. The type of confession can vary from the classic romantic confession to something more platonic. Childhood friends might find themselves confessing ancient secrets, while newly acquainted companions might find themselves confessing something private to their new friend as if to get it off of their chest.

The masquerade will continue forth late into the night. Dreamers are under a spell, it seems, and they carry no interest in exploring the castle or looking for Vaeros. In fact, they begin to forget about him as soon as they begin eating the feast and even more so when the ballroom dancing occurs. Come about 3 AM, Dreamers leave the castle, and they end up in the Enchanted Garden. This is an opportunity to relax and stargaze and not rush or hurry along. The spell, which is slowly removing hostile feelings towards Vaeros, does not seem to subside. Dreamers are happy here. Maybe they don't even want to leave.
Whether Dreamers sleep the rest of the night in the garden or they find their way back home to Somnius, another message and vision in the dream will occur. They will see a large, golden dragon trapped in a dark and desolate place. He seems to be pleading, but finally his message comes through:
"Don't give in! You are being tricked! Heed my warning now, focus hard on how much you do not want this! Think of your home from whence you came, and the world that is yours... and if you manage to break this spell, I am begging you... I need your help."
While some Dreamers may break the spell easily by thinking fondly of their home, others may not, but the dragon's interruption is enough to eventually return the Dreamers' state of mind back to normal. Characters may develop amensia, forgetting where they came from and who they are temporarily -- it is up to other Dreamers to remind them of the world they came from and the people they love! Once again, it seems a dragon is in trouble. But where is he? How did he end up in that dark and scary place? Maybe he will use magic again in the future to send another message that is more helpful..
Happy Holidays! This month we have Secret Santa signups. This is an OOC signup only. Please do not sign your character up if they will not ICly participate, since this can leave dreamers who would participate out of half of the fun. We are not compelling participation in this event! Secret Santa Signups will close on December 15th 9am CST and pairings will be sent out by December 18th.
During the day of the 18th, dreamers will receive a letter telling them that they have been assigned to be another's secret Santa. These letters will arrive by white barn owl, no matter where the character happens to be. It will be up to the dreamer to deliver their gift to their giftee before the beginning of the new year.
