TDM #1

Arrival / Enchanted Garden

Whether it be sleep or death, you feel your eyes close, and as your body begins to let go, you see a barn owl that is flying through the darkness, soon sweeping you across the clouded sky. You feel yourself mouth the words, “I wish, I wish..” and utter your deepest and darkest desire.

When you regain consciousness, you’ll find you are in an unfamiliar place with no recognition of how you arrived here. You have the clothes on your back, but nothing else. No weapons and if you had a particular superpower, you’ll notice it is missing. All you have is a satchel with a piece of bread, a vial of water and a potion. The potion could be red, blue or golden. There are no instructions about these potions other than two words: Drink Me.

Will you drink it or not?

There is a parchment, handwritten, and it simply gives you a welcoming:

“Welcome to my Labyrinth. Per our agreement, you have consented to live your life here for an undetermined amount of time. In exchange, I will grant you the wish that you desire the most.”

You’re in a garden, surrounded by flowers and plants– most of which you cannot identify. However, there are a few that you can make out: poinsettias and mistletoe. You’ll soon find out that being around the poinsettias give you an odd sense of joy no matter how confusing the situation may seem and the mistletoe, which is left over from the holiday season, gives you the desire to kiss or hold hands with the nearest person to you. It looks like there are plenty of others who are just now waking up from their dream-state as well.. why not go ahead and say hello?

Somnius / Snow Angels

With the influx of new life, the humble town a barkeep tells you is called Somnius seems to come alive as well, with new faces to join that of the resident fairies, goblins and other townfolk. There’s bustling energy to the land that the townfolk will tell you wasn’t quite there before, and some suspect that the presence of the new arrivals might be powering the world around them in some way - but that’s a question to be answered on another day. The quaint town of Somnius needs a little bit of care, that rustic feel to the mushroom houses, old shops and weathered castles too evident at first glance, but it’s not a bad place to live, as the locals will tell you. It almost seems like everything will be okay…

But of course, things are never so simple.

Whether you have been wandering around to get your bearings, talking to the locals or exploring your new humble (very humble) abode, you can expect to find mysterious ice sculptures - fashioned in the shape of snow angels, with blades in their hands - appearing in random places around the town. There are some that manifest in the middle of the street, some that sit quietly at the edge of an inn, and even some that appear right beside your bed, staring at you as you wake up. It’s unclear how these sculptures even got here, but close proximity to them will conjure up feelings of unrest, like you should not step any closer.

It’s smart to trust your gut in these situations. Step too close to a snow angel and it will come to life, moving with the grace of flowing water. They make a vague request and will spare only those able to heed it.

“Cold … so cold … Even the days of Visium are so cold. Have you any warmth to spare us?”

Some angels will accept an article of clothing as warmth. Others are greedy and keep demanding more, wanting to take everything that you have on your body. Heed their requests and they will spare you. Resist even just a little, and that’s when they draw their swords.

It’s not too easy to defeat an angel with brute force given that they reform themselves immediately. Running away or blasting them with fire could do the trick. Be careful not to get cut by their blades, however…

Characters who get cut by their blades will experience an inconsolable sense of chill and emptiness, right down to their bones. They will find themselves desiring ‘warmth’ from others in different ways - whether through physical contact, or affectionate words and gestures. There might be the few who go feverish in their desire for warmth. For those characters – the open fireplace is looking like a very tantalizing place to sit in right now (Yes, sit in, not by). They might even feel compelled to pull a friend in with them. That can’t be good for anyone…

The effects will only subside if the condition of receiving ‘warmth’ is met. This can be in the literal sense (physical warmth and intimacy) or figurative (feelings of love, acceptance and happiness).

Bonfire

When night falls, the temperatures only drop further, which does no favours for the poor souls who had to give up their clothing. The locals want to welcome the new arrivals and give everyone an opportunity to unwind from a busy and chaotic day of being hunted by snow sculptures. That’s why they’ve set up a gathering in the middle of town square. Food and alcohol is being generously supplied by The Cask & Anvil, and marketplace vendors have set up pop up stands to try and cajole the new arrivals into purchasing some fancy new clothes or a pretty gemstone they claim will ward off danger (claims not verified).

At the center of it all is a large bonfire that’s warming up the square. Everyone is encouraged to warm themselves by it after a long day, eat, and make merry. In fact, there’s a certain sense of enchantment to the crackling fire that seems to draw even the shiest wallflower in, pushing them to sit with others and make conversation. As the night goes on, the newly arrived dreamers will find themselves settling easily into the warm and bustling mood, any stresses and anxieties melting away. With time, they’ll start to find themselves without a filter, more than happy to talk about themselves and the life they had led prior to coming to Visium. In fact, they will feel compelled to share a story from their past - one that might be joyous, comedic, thrilling, or tragic. Whatever sorts of feelings come attached to their story, it will be one of emotional significance.

In the back of their minds, they might get the sense someone else is listening.

OOC

Welcome to the [community profile] labyrinthum TDM! Characters will arrive depowered and with only their clothing, and will be given a satchel with a crystal pendant, a communication device, some water and bread and a magic potion. If they drink the potion, they will manifest an elemental, healing or animal transformation ability.

With the exception of Castle Vaeros, characters are free to go as they please, so feel free to place them in any of the locations available on the map. Yes, this includes the Labyrinth - though characters will not be able to clear the maze. Please comment here to request an outcome for your character's labyrinth exploration and a moderator will get to you shortly. (The longest a character can stay in the Labyrinth is 3 days.)

You can find more information about the game here. Any questions regarding the TDM can go under the comment below.

Nobara Kugisaki || Jujutsu Kaisen

[personal profile] nailed_you 2023-02-08 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Arrival

Nobara woke up confused. She really had no clue what was going on. This wasn't Shibuya at all. The last thing she remembered was fighting the guy with the patchwork face or his decoy and running into Yuji after getting her face touched and a sharp pain, and then nothing. Blackness. All she wanted to do was help her friends with the mission that they were all on. She knew that she should have gone back to the school, but her pride didn't let her go without being able to do something to help out.

She ran a hand over her face. She didn't feel any scars or anything and she could see just fine. So she hadn't lost an eye like she had thought that she did. She looked through the things that she had been given and stared at the red bottle that just said "Drink Me". She didn't exactly trust it, but she couldn't seem to use her cursed energy. She frowned a bit as she opened the bottle and quickly downed the potion. She was surprised at the taste of it.

Now she just needed to get out of the maze. She slowly followed the light that seemed to be guiding her. It was rather strange, but she didn't have the time to question it. It didn't take her very long to get out of the maze and into the garden. The flowers were rather nice. She couldn't help but smile a little bit as she passed through them. Once she got to the edge of the town, she lifted a hand to shield her eyes and glanced around.

Snow Angels

Nobara didn't like the look of the snow angels as she tried to figure out where she was going to be staying. She had made her way to the city, but she needed a place to stay so that she could figure out what was going to happen. She paused for a moment to look the angel over. Hearing a voice didn't surprise her. She was used to curses trying to lure people in. "Sorry. I don't have anything I can give you. I don't have anything to give."

She needed to get more things to wear and use to keep warm. She turned to head off, and barely managed to jump out of the way of the sword that came swinging out at her. "HEY! I TOLD YOU I DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING! I just got here!"

She wished that she had access to her cursed energy as well as her hammer and nails. She kept ducking and dodging the sword swings and held out a hand and small embers shot out towards the sword, melting part of the blade. "What in the world is going on?!"

She was confused about her new power for a moment before a still sharp bit of the blade bit into her arm. "Crap. Gotta keep moving..."

After drinking his potion it was pretty easy for Yuji to start to make his way around the strange, twisting maze he found himself in. There’s a part of him that was screaming to try and find a way out, to do something to find a way back home, but another part was enjoying the simple peace of it all. The quiet, the lack of screaming and fighting and all the rest.

Turning a corner, he skids to a halt as he almost runs into someone - and freezes.

There’s no way… Right?

“… Kugisaki…?”

He already wants to cry, just a little.

Well, this was one way to meet in a maze. She took half a step back to put just a little bit of distance between them as she tried to figure out who nearly smacked into her. Hearing her name made her head snap up.

Yuji. Someone that she actually knew. She broke out into a wide smile. He was safe after everything that had happened. So her sacrifice hadn't been in vain.

"Itadori. I'm glad you're all right."

Eyes widening, he stares at her for a long minute, as if not sure she’s real - maybe he’s asleep, or maybe he’s died and this is some weird dream. It’s the last thing he expects, seeing her here like this, and he reaches out to poke her in the arm - gently, just to see.

She’s real?!

Eyes lighting up, he reaches out, and if she’ll let him he’ll grab her in a bear hug and spin her.

“No way! You’re real!”

"Why wouldn't I be real?!" She exclaimed as she was poked. She didn't have time to say anything else before she was quickly scooped up into a rather powerful bear hug. Her eyes went wide for a moment and she let herself enjoy the feeling of his arms around her for a moment.

However, it soon became hard to breathe as she looked down at Yuji. He was still incredibly strong and probably wasn't watching his strength due to excitement. "Itadori. Can't. Breathe."

Yuji isn’t thinking - he’s too excited to see her, too happy to be able to have her alive in front of him, and his delight is clear as he laughs aloud. The last memory he had of Kugisaki wasn’t exactly an amazing one, so being able to see her now scolding him and moving around is more than he could’ve hoped for.

He does want to keep her that way, though, so his grip loosens - but not enough to worry about accidentally dropping her.

“Sorry!” He leans back to look at her, still holding her up in his arms. “I’m just so happy to see you! Are you okay? Nothing has happened, right?”

"You can put me down, Itadori," she said as she could breathe easier again. "I'm fine, considering what had happened the last time I saw you. Is Fushiguro ok? What about everyone else?" She asked, looking down at her classmate. She didn't know what had happened after her face exploded in the train station.

"Do you know where we are?" She asked a moment later, glancing around. This certainly wasn't Shibuya.

"Yeah, yeah, they're okay. Fushiguro is here, and so is Gojo-sensei. They're both doing fine." Better than fine, actually, since they're not getting hurt or shoved into boxes or anything like that. It's a relief to know that they can all take care of each other here, too, and that they're going to be alright in the end.

Slowly, he puts her down, still holding on to her arm, just in case.

"No idea," he admits. "But I've seen the others, so we'll figure it out. It's not too bad so far, I think."

snow angels;

[personal profile] takumina 2023-02-09 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
He'd learned relatively quickly that the angels were bad news, and given his lack of cursed energy, he might as well have a giant target plastered to the center of his back, which makes him a whole hell of a lot more uncomfortable than he's about to admit out loud.

But that … doesn't mean he isn't still trying to make himself useful when and where he can. He's not entirely convinced he won't still come across someone else he knows — Megumi and Yuji had been a welcome surprise, Suguru … a worrying one, for a myriad reasons — but having more people to look after means he has some direction here, which in turn means he doesn't feel entirely useless without his cursed energy.

( Imagine that … the strongest jujutsu sorcerer admitting he feels a little bit useless. )

When he hears that yelling, he comes running. It's too familiar for even his wishful-thinking brain to fabricate, and while he doesn't have access to any of his techniques he's still quick on his feet, effectively skidding to a stop just in time to reach out and grab the elbow attached to the arm opposite the one that had just produced those embers. There's a low whistle of approval, because it's him, and he's very rarely situation-appropriate all the time.

"You have to melt them completely," he says at first, head tipped to the side, grinning like this isn't some dire situation at all. "You might have a chance with those little firecrackers, but I'm not willing to take that risk, are you?"

Come with him if you want to live, or something.

Nobara almost didn't react to the whistle. Almost. It's Gojo and she is used to his shenanigans when it came to teaching and fighting. She's just going to need a few seconds for her brain to properly process his voice and put it together with what was going on here.

"Gojo!" She exclaimed when her brain finally caught up with what was going on now. She gave him a small nod as she began to move in the direction that he seemed to be tugging her while dodging what was left of the blade. She let out another shower of embers to melt more of that blade before turning.

"What in the world is going on here? Why can't I use my cursed energy?" she demanded as she began to run from the angel.

Are you surprised to see him because in the timeframe you're from he's stuck in a box, too? Because Megumi and Yuji both kind of looked at him like he'd suddenly grown a second head and still won't tell him anything about what's going on back home.

Still, normalcy for the sake of normalcy is something, so we're going to run with it.

It bears mentioning that by now he's pretty much gotten used to wearing his glasses instead of his blindfold — no use for such a thing when you can't use any of your techniques — so his expression is a tiny bit more open than it would be otherwise, though … it stands to reason that he's always as transparent as a pane of glass when it comes to his current batch of first-years. All three of them now, he thinks to himself, and is equal parts relieved and concerned about what their future might hold.

He guides her away from the angel as quickly as possibly, only answering when he thinks they're a safe enough distance away to pause for a breath. "Annoying, isn't it? From what I've gathered nobody that had powers before can use them now." He shrugs. "Wish I understood it." And then a pause, during which he finally notices where that sword had grazed her.

"Well that doesn't look good."

She's surprised to see anyone that she knew. She didn't think she had survived her fight with Mahito. Not after a good portion of her face had exploded and she lost an eye. After that, she really didn't know what had gone on. Megumi and Yuji would have more information than she would.

"So no one can used Cursed Energy while here. Itadori seems just as strong as ever though," she said as she glanced down at her arm. It was bleeding, but she hadn't really noticed the cut before. She just knew it was cold. And now it seemed to be getting colder. She shivered a little bit.

"Why is it getting colder?" She asked, not really understanding what was going on. The sun didn't seem to be setting so it shouldn't be that cold right now.
