OOC Intro & Intense Event Plotting November 2024

• OOC INTRO + EVENT PLANNING •

Welcome to the game, newbies! To our current dreamer crew, welcome to our next event! This post will act as an OOC intro for new players, a CR meme for everyone, and a place to make some plans for our next event which will go live on November 17th and end November 30th. Below you will see the CR meme form as well as a Event Outline for our upcoming event. As this month also contains a 4th wall element, I have also included a section to explain this element.
• 4th Wall •
Welcome to our 4th wall styled event! This event will be open to anyone on dreamwidth to participate in, though mods will have the final say. 4th wall characters, or "visitors" will appear throughout the city of Somnius upon the start of the event. Upon the conclusion, all Visitors will be gone. Perhaps temporarily should our 4th wall friends decide to apply in January or another time! 4TH Wall Participation Rules and Requirements
No Doubles. If a character is already in game, another version cannot be played as a 4th wall "Visitor".
CRAU & AU are both allowed (with the exception of doubles)
Our One Month rule stands for playable content. A canon/chapter/episode/etc must have been released for one month as of the beginning of the event to be eligible for play.
Players intending to 4th wall MUST post a plotting comment and link it in our Visitor directory.
Players who do not want to post a top level simply need to fill out a comment under the Visitor directory with their Name and Contact Information. Their header should be the character they intend to play and the canon.
Current players may also play 4th wall characters. There is no limit to how many characters one can play in the event.

Visitors Arrive
Cracks and tears in Vaeros’ barrier appear and mysterious Visitors appear all over the city of Somnius
Other than the mysterious arrival of these Visitors nothing really seems awry, though Visitors that arrive in this manner are easily identified by a gold cuff bracelet around their left wrist that cannot be removed by any means.
Prompts included will facilitate interacting with the setting and locale while giving new players a chance to explore the setting as it is normally
Visitors do not remember a contract with Vaeros or a wish being made. Curious.
Control Slips
Over time, the setting starts to break and things stop working as they normally have
Strange weather effects occur all over and at the same time. Blizzards, heavy rains, heatwaves.
Night and Day begin to swap over and over again. Somtiemes it’s day for a few hours, then twilight and day again. There’s no rhyme or reason to it
The chaos will bring visits from creatures previously fought by the dreamers including the shadow wolves, the fireys and the IRS.
OOC Note: Linked TDM plotting posts are for reference of these mentioned creatures only.
Cracks in the island form, spreading and causing ravines that seem to drop clear to inferna... These cracks will appear all over, including in Somnius but will not disturb places marked as homes.
Returning Magic
Vaeros appears as an image in the sky, his face painted across the sunset sky and starry nights. He demands repayment if Dreamers wish to survive.
Dreamers are given the option to go to the crystal and pray, returning rewards they have been given with earned shards to repower Vaeros.
OOC NOTE: The rewards that can be sacrificed can ONLY be powers or high stakes items that facilitate character abilities. Regains to housing, mundane items and similar are not valid. Anything that is voluntarily sacrificed during this event will be returned at a later time via another event and cannot be regained with shards in the meantime.
Dreamers that sacrifice these regain will temporarily be granted an extra potion power during the event that can be utilized at full power to help others in their efforts to save Visium.
Working Together
Natives are the key to relieving the issues throughout Visium in the meantime. They are highly keen to encourage interaction between Dreamers and Visitors
Interacting and working together in groups mixed with Visitors and Dreamers will soothe issues and heal ravines/cracks in the ground.
Natives have set up tasks to facilitate this, sending visitors and dreamers across Visium to complete quests.
By the time the event is scheduled to close and enough magic is returned to Vaeros to control his land, visitors begin to flicker and disappear. They leave behind their gold bracelets.

About Me: cst but i tend to tag at odd hours. my plurk is mostly for rp and then sometimes fandom stuff. i'm a big horror fan so that's most of what i get into! i'm also an identity v player so unfortunately that's a part of my life... i really fell off on tags due to the state of the world lmao but i'm starting to dust myself off so i'm hoping to be more active this month!

Character Name: osamu dazai
Canon: bungo stray dogs
Character Age: 18
General Info:

the youngest executive in the port mafia's history! he's functionally been the boss' right-hand man since he was 14. dazai is an eccentric person who grows bored easily, who enjoys messing with others, and who has no regard for his own life. he's also perceptive, meticulous, capable of untold cruelty, and a natural leader who can mirror the people around him.

he's also very high-energy and a huge extrovert who just Does Things, so if you ever need someone to bother your character or drag them into something, he's your guy. for the most part he's actually quite easy to get along with! he even makes himself useful sometimes!

notably his canon point just changed, so he's gone from current canon to dark era, so he's gone from 22 → 18. he's not only going to helpfully not tell any cr aside from bb and maruki. anyone who saw him around before might notice that he's two inches shorter than when they last saw him and had a wardrobe change though.

though that said if you want to hear him go off about what he thinks happened here hmu, let's talk physics and the nature of reality. he also hangs out at club quartz with the bluds a lot so catch him there.

Housing Plans: he's living with odasku in a cottage. oh, domestic life.

Desired CR:

⸺ good people! people with! especially people who have a more sordid past or can do a little harm but choose not to. those are the people who he's naturally drawn to.
⸺ on the flipside, people who are more detached and logical. dazai is at his core someone who makes decisions based on what's rational and optimal, and who's highly intelligence, so he works well with them.
⸺ people he can harass. he's a menace. bonus points for introverts that he can just drag into everything.
⸺ really anyone lmao, he's easy to vibe with. and for those who he wouldn't, i love neg cr. one of his biggest pieces of cr in canon is somebody who he does nothing but bicker with (but then works with well.)

Event Plans:

⸺ I WANNA INTERACT WITH 4TH WALL CHARACTERS he's going to be comg to shake you all down, he's so curious... this is so weird.
⸺ i'm not entirely sure what, but i want to do something with weather shenanigans. let him get stuck in storms and blizzards and be like a wet cat. he will steal your umbrella.
⸺ his ability, no longer human, nullifies all other abilities, but he's used to going up against powerhouses so he'll be killing some things. maybe act a little unhinged. either way, he's thriving, if anyone wants to learn how unhinged he actually is or how capable of making himself useful he is.
⸺ with that said if there's any medics here, magic does not work with him lmfao so he might need someone who knows first aid
⸺ POWER SACRIFICING... i would love to have him talk to people about! he will be prodding people about it. he's already decided on what the logical choice but he may or may not play at being uncertain.

Character Name: Akira Kurusu
Canon: Persona 5 Strikers
Character Age: 17 (his hc birthday is 11/16 so i guess??? 18 soon??? LOL whoops!!!)
General Info: Akira is the protagonist of the Persona 5 series! he can be tricky to get a read on, because he's someone that wears too many masks to count. he's what people need him to be, or shifts himself to whatever's needed to reach his goal. though perfectly friendly and polite to strangers, thanks to the false charges pressed against him it can be difficult to earn enough trust for him to open up and share anything real. once you do, though, Akira will be unfailingly loyal and with you for the long haul.

Akira hates injustice more than anything else, especially people abusing their money or power to get what they want. if it was something that he was capable of ignoring, he never would've ended up on probation in Tokyo, but looking the other way is just something he can't do. his own strict moral code demanded justice so much that he kind of unlocked supernatural powers and started a vigilante group to take down corrupt people in power. Akira keeps pretty quiet about it, so it's probably not anything important ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

some other quick beats include - he loves cats, is a great listener, often makes terrible puns or word play jokes, is an honors student, can sometimes just be a little bit too morally gray, and is great at making both coffee and curry. your everyday standup young man that lives a totally normal life who definitely doesn't steal hearts or summon a demon gentleman thief.

Housing Plans: there is a 99.9% chance that Akira will be living with Maruki and Akechi ~~if Akechi doesn't kill him first, i'll get back to you about that by the end of Monday~~ in the machiya outside of town. apparently?? it's not super well-known, so most likely he will just be meeting folks in the town proper

Desired CR: i hate saying everything but it really is just everything fsdljkfsdljk cries... all of Akira's canon friends are weird so i'd love for him to eventually have a bunch of wacky friends here, too... part of his whole Thing is matching to what another person needs him to be + masking accordingly, so he. really does work with almost anybody, lol. what he's always thinking of is how somebody can help him and - prioritized a lot higher - what Akira can do for somebody else. what's harder is getting him to have genuine bonds of trust and friendship; he'll always be courteous, probably even if someone doesn't show him the same, but getting him to trust and genuinely open up to another person is a slow-burn no matter what. it's a slow burn that i love, though, so if you want to jump on that ride with him let's work towards it :'D

addendum 1: i absolutely love and adore neg cr. however it's extremely difficult to get neg cr with Akira because it's hard to bother him unless your chara is like. somebody in authority abusing their power and making life terrible for others. i suffer 😭 it's definitely still doable, just takes more work, so if you want to angle for that let me know and we can try to plot something for now or later!!

addendum 2: if your chara has very close cr with Akechi or Maruki, i'd love for Akira to meet them! he and Akechi have a lot of [spoilers redacted], and Maruki is someone he just found out he doesn't know but knows him - for different reasons, both of them are important to him, and I'd love for him to have ~~steals from Caitlin~~ cr in-laws! let's have those important chats.

Initial Plans: he just got here so i am very much feeling this out right now! that said: "[Will they] cause mischief?" yes. yes. 1000 times yes. whatever mischief i can find for him to get into, he will absolutely be doing that. we'll also see if i have the mental bandwidth for a lot of it, but the most ic thing he could ever do is go to school and have 10 million part-time jobs 😂

Event Plans: i think he should fight the irs because that's the funniest thing Kurusu Akira could ever do- sorry. anyway. i don't have huge plans yet for the event either, except for maybe some of the "working together" at the end of the event timeline? i am also super down to play with fourth wall characters, please feel free to throw them at me!! (i'm avoiding spoilers from P3 and P4, but if you're bringing any persona characters please call me-)

Character Name: Nao Mizushita
Canon: Original
Character Age: 18
General Info: Jorogumo-themed/related, orphaned, allegedly deceased mafia princess in denial of her heritage and original identity who lives 'free' in Tokyo under another ID (see: Nao Mizushita) as a prolific if very much delinquent hacker (see: Pink Spider) and also information broker who totally isn't increasingly quickly scratching an itch to look into the murders of that person's (see: her OG identity) immediate family 'cause stuff don't add up! Orphaned at 9, on her own since 12, she's impacted others' stories in a number of roles and ways as she rides out her "free" days period, a little before the end of which she's been pulled into Somnius.

Nao presents as a freewheeling, quirky, audacious youth sometimes given to Big Energy with a keen pair of eyes, a curious, inquiring lilt, and the assertiveness to pursue whatever her goal. She's a resourceful, creative individual, a thinker for sure, at times effervescent, and... a bit odd, a mischievous gremlin who loves getting a reaction out of people, playing, and having fun, which may not match what most people think of as fun because she's an eccentric and a huge nerd. There are hints that she was, at one time, a bit spoilt if you squint. Maybe a little selfish, a little bully ("carry me"), a little callous at times. She's a closed-book mess, secretive, controlling of what information she reveals about herself and to whom and when, deliberate a good 98.5% of the time --

Look, just tag me and come on this wild ride with me. It said "general info," not "Kana tl;drs and spills all the beans all over the place," and yes, there are many, many more beans. PERMISSIONS and WARNINGS, check 'em!

Bonus notes: Nao may be a weirdo with a colorful past and skillset, but she's also an eighteen-year-old girl who grasps the potential of nice things and fun moments. Technology, new patches, hacking, cats, COFFEE, ice cream in the form of dots, video games, pro-gaming tournaments -- honestly, something as mundane as a sleepover would easily excite her as she's missed out on a lot of normal experiences. Housing Plans: As of right now, I have no preset housing plans for Nao. Her IC housing plan consists of "find a place or places to stay," not unlike an outside cat who may have multiple homes that don't(?) know about each other and feed her. If anyone would like to subject their character to a potentially questionably sufferable (read: organized chaos re: placement of things, cannot cook or she will burn water, leaves take-out boxes around, towels on the floor, etc.) roomie who displays questionable social manners (opening the door without knocking, talking to you while you're on the toilet, borrowed your shirt that's 392048390 x's too big for her without asking, didn't tell you she was having company over, suddenly has 392048 items she collected throughout the day just chilling on the table, used a window instead of the door to get in at 3 AM despite her lack of athleticism and now can you really be mad at her because she's dying on the floor??? etc.), let's chat.

Desired CR: Please note that, given her history, it can take Nao time to form more than superficial relationships. In Somnius, this is presently exacerbated by the nerfing of her sixth/spiritual sense, a significant handicap that makes everyone and everything present seem incredibly fake/virtual reality to her because she can't see/feel the spiritual energy inherent in all things and, y'know. Souls.

Initial Plans: Getting the lay of the land and figuring out what the heck she seems to have gotten herself into! Nao is all about learning every-useful-thing she can and has 0 qualms about utilizing others to do so and leeching off public info. Finding a place or places to live, solving the matter of food and drink, complaining loudly, attempting to take apart her or somebody else's OKIA, finding irons and fires to put them into because not having any is bad for her overall health -- ultimately, making mischief is likely due to that last part. She's without the abilities the development of which contributed to her ability to survive, without her many, many, many irons and fires, and having to touch grass and talk to people in-person -- I'd say we're on the right track!

Event Plans: I'm open to 4th wall characters! As for what Nao will be up to, she will be squinting the majority of the event, complaining loudly re: inconveniences, potentially raising eyebrows she doesn't typically respond 'normally' to life-threatening situations, and winding up in compromising positions where she will need a hand because physical combat is not her strength. Physical anything is not her strength and while she's fast, stamina is her garbage stat. As the visitors disappear, she will be collecting as many gold bracelets as she can get her hands on and squinting further at Vaeros apparently makin' promises to people when he can't even control his realm right, like... sir?? Sir.

RP Wishlist: Here's a tiny starter wishlist --
• The long-term #1 on my wishlist is the big character arc I want to run for Nao, which involves reconciling her identities, embracing heritage, and wholly accepting her whole herself, which sounds really simple, short and sweet! It's not. She is not an open book generally and has a lot of stuff to work on and through with each item, so I fully expect this to take a long time and have no interest in rushing anything.
• She's lost out on many mundane milestones and experiences that occur between the ages of 9-18, so in addition to her continuing to touch grass, I'd love for her to participate in sleepovers, pillow fights, etc. should the chance arrive.
• Somebody picks her up and throws her over their shoulder like a sack of rice while hightailing it out of a dangerous situation. It needs to be game canon.

Anything else: As a heads up, I am 110% up for pre-event planning and will be dropping some open prompts in the log I posted over the next few days!

They both seen some shit! I think it'll be interesting since Hakuno's whole character development is gaining a strong sense of "self" because she had no memories and was forced to kill people for survival! So I think it'll be interesting!

Hakuno will tell you about her ordinary days on the Moon. Yes, Moon. Not Earth.

I hold up a fellow Friend of All Time who is also selfless to a fault, has a tendency to put himself down AND is something of a gremlin... I play FFXIV so I am very familiar with Hyth and I think these two would get along quite well!

Baldr himself is not magically inclined but his ~~husband~~ best friend and lord is a mirrist (Baldr's world's version of a mage) so he can talk about it with a bit of knowledge, and I think Hyth would probably be interested in its similarities to the Ancients' magic-- one of the primary abilities of mirrists is known as "exoflection," which is basically a sort of creation magic haha. HE PROBABLY WOULD NOT TURN DOWN A DRINK, EITHER...
