In his defense, Li Lianhua wasn't actually expecting Di Feisheng to go after that worthless thing. Nor did he think it would just float and remain out to get him accessible like that. However, both Di Feisheng's grim acceptance of such a sodden fate and his catastrophically disapproving face are very, very funny. As if he'd just declared Fang Xiaobao the winner of an argument over who gets the guest bed. As if Di Feisheng really would go wherever Li Lianhua led him.

The math on those feelings is complex enough that he does remain locked in place for a spell, actually, watching Di Feisheng wade into the waves with a look on his face that can only be described as fond. Good thing absolutely nobody had to see that. And it only lasts for a moment before he finds his voice again to call his most reassuring, "I wouldn't dare!" after him.

But of course he would dare, inevitably and within seconds, and this time he does send a sympathetic grimace out into the ether as he turns around to make a run brisk walk for it. He really isn't worth Di Feisheng's efforts and ruined robes. Ashamed, quite ashamed. The long vigil by the ocean and this emotionally draining interaction have taken enough out of him that he can't quite gain a lot of speed, but if he can just make it to the first outcroppings of the forest, maybe he can get out of sight long enough to make use of that new skill of his. And then it'll likely only be a matter of days before the problem solves itself.

Foolish last wish or not, he doesn't hate Di Feisheng or Fang Duobing enough to let them go where he would lead them.
