Photogravures certainly didn't render in color in his time, and yet he can easily make out the crisp, minute feather details...was this a future-book?
It's only as he stands there and quickly thumbs through the book that the red line on his arm is made apparent- it's little more than the kind of thing someone would get from scraping against furniture, but still puffy and red. The cold of it hasn't completely sunk in to his bones, though, and the familiarity of the library setting is warming enough to keep it at bay.]
