Naruto is half expecting it when Sasuke turns his elbows away, almost as if he's testing if this apparition really is who it claims to be. The scuffling that comes after is just as expected, like a dance he knows the movements to without thinking about it, muscle memory. Arms fly past his face, miss his stomach, strike his shoulder in a flat push just as he makes contact with a firm bicep… and gradually Naruto's sullen expression turns to one of utter and genuine delight.

It's crazy how much you can miss something so specific without really realising it.

"Yeah, you would find somethin' like that funny, y'know!" He grunts out as they start to spin their blows, Naruto trying to catch a single second where Sasuke's guard isn't working overtime and failing miserably. He's laughing too because of course he is. He giggles when Sasuke misses him, gasps when he gets a palm to the chin for it, outright caws with mirth when he gets Sasuke in the stomach--

And then he's gone! Suddenly, Naruto disappears from sight.

The next thing, two arms come up to wrap around Sasuke's middle and bear hug him backwards into the deeper part of the ocean.
