Iiiiit's complicated. Like in the original timeline, he killed himself to get us all to come home, but then we went back in time to prevent the apocalypse since we'd already failed the first time and we maybe sort of unadvisedly met him. When we came back to the present, he had a whole different Academy with all different kids and our moms were all dead, so we started something bad, which ended the world and Dad got his way on that by killing Luther and then took us into this parallel/alternate dimension that he didn't let me come in anyway (but I snuck in after I died again) and then used a machine to drain us of our powers and reset the universe.
